A portrait of the self in the fading light of the day…
Long ago in the underbelly of imagination there dwelt a story. But the story could not be told because the gut held it fast. As time passed by and the world evolved the story learnt to shapeshift itself. This is the story of that story manifested in the video as a text. It is now in your mind, in the underbelly of your imagination. Imagine it.
Words are abstract markings and readers imagine concrete visuals reading them. Jhilam Chattaraj does the reverse. She presents concrete visuals of moving images and expects the viewers to imagine the abstract words. The video is the text. Imagine a text not composed of words but composed of moving images thereby breaking the border between the text and its appearance.
