PROLIFERA XII
EDITORIAL
Since 2023 EKL Review turned annual with just one issue every year in the month of August. So come August we have our issue number 12. This proliferation comprises eighteen poems, including one by a ten year old girl, and six prose pieces which includes three reviews, two interviews and one piece of short fiction. We have a good number of international contributions in poetry category matching with the Indian contributors. The thrust with which EKL Review began of imagining against the grain is still there and many experimental pieces are included. We have new contributors as well as old ones. We have been regularly nominating poets for the Yearbook of Indian Poetry in English and our contributors have often featured in that significant anthology. In fact we have one of the editors of that anthology Vinita Agrawal as a contributing poet in this issue. This issue has a great mix of established poets from India like Jaydeep Sarangi, Basudhara Roy, Mallika Bhaumik and Ranu Uniyal alongside younger ones like Ajmira Khatun and Priyanka Adhikary just to name a few. The interview with Mahua Sen is significant because she translates Rajkamal Choudhary’s path-breaking Hindi novel of 1966 Machhli Mari Hui into English as The Dead Fish. There is also a wonderful review of Basudhara Roy’s book A Blur of a Woman by the young poet Ajmira Khatun. We hope that the readers will find it to their palate the smorgasbord of hors d’oeuvre we present here.
