Kenneth Pobo
Steve and Eydie agree that doing
something spectacular would improve
their marriage. They usually enjoy
simple pleasures like watching
a Yankees game or telling
their dog Benny that he’s a good boy.
But they need something more.
They decide to bike to the moon
and back. They pack a picnic lunch
which Eydie puts in her bike’s basket.
Nobody in their circle of friends
has ever tried this. The moon
is 238,855 miles away. It takes them
about an hour. When they arrive
chalky dust flowers
greet them. In song. They stay
for a couple of hours and bike home.
Magazines on the coffee table
leave their perfectly arranged places
and welcome them back.
